Poster Session

There will be a poster session as part of the school, and we encourage you to submit a poster. Please email me your proposed title in order to participate. There will be an informal award to the best submissions at the school.

Registration

The official registration for the school needs to be done with Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo (since this course is part of their summer program) and is open until June 15th, 2018. All participants must complete this registration.

REGISTER

The official webpage of the school at the UIMP website explains how to register. Though the registration can also be done by filling in and sending a paper form, the easiest way is probably to complete the online registration pages, which is where the above "register" link takes you. In order to get a username you should go to "enter online registration". Once you receive your username by email you can enter the system and fill in your application. We warn you that there are some parts of the system which are badly translated and appear in Spanish — please contact us if you find any trouble. After completing the online form you have to submit some paperwork through http://www.uimp.es/docs:

  • a passport-size photo (scan / jpg)
  • a scan of your passport or Spanish DNI or NIE
  • a scan of proof of your status as undergraduate / masters / PhD student, or completion of recent masters / PhD studies, if applicable (this is needed if you are applying for UIMP funding during registration).
  • (needed only if you apply for UIMP funding) a scan of your academic record for recently completed or ongoing studies (undergraduate or masters level), if applicable. This academic record should include your average marks.
  • Proof of payment of registration fees.

There is a registration fee of 130 euro for attendance (but you can apply for a waiver; see below). The number of available places is fixed by UIMP.

As part of the registration procedure you can request accommodation at university residences. We recommend you to do this, since it is a cheap and convenient option. "Palacio de la Magdalena" or "caballerizas" are convenient and next to the school venue. If you apply for funding, it is possible that you do not have to choose, since UIMP will assign an accommodation for you.

Also as part of the registration, you can apply for funding from UIMP to cover registration fees and accommodation. We also recommend you to do this (unless you have received funding from other sources, such as RSME). You need to come from a European university in order to apply for this; see below for more precise information.

Grants

There are two different calls for early-stage researchers (pre / postdoctoral) to obtain funding to attend the school:

The Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo has a call for registration & accommodation grants which is open at registration time. Full details regarding these grants can be found at the UIMP website. They are open to current masters or doctoral students in Europe (to be precise, the European Higher Education Area), and candidates who have completed their masters / doctoral studies in Europe after December 31st, 2012. We recommend that you apply for these unless you have received funding from RSME. During registration there will be a choice of "Types of matriculation". You can choose "Full scholarship" (which would cover accommodation and registration fee if you are awarded it), "Matriculation scholarship" (which would cover only the registration fee if you are awarded it) or "Standard" (which requires you to pay for everything). There are other options that might apply to you, so please check with us in case of doubt.

Call for RSME grants (now closed)

The Real Sociedad Matemática Española has opened a call for grants to this school. These grants are aimed to doctoral students or post-docs that have defended their thesis after December 31, 2013. There are two types of grant available:

  1. Registration fee waivers, which only cover the cost of the registration fee.
  2. Full grants, which cover the registration fee, accommodation and meals the school.

These grants do not cover transportation costs.

In order to apply for any of these grants you need to send an email to secretariarsme@gmail.com specifying the type of grant you wish to apply for and attaching:

  1. A short CV.
  2. For doctoral students: a letter from your thesis advisor mentioning the relation between the topic of your thesis and the topics in the school.
  3. For post-doctoral students: two letters of reference and a copy of your doctoral degree title.

The call for grants will close at 14:00 Madrid time on March 31, 2018. The official announcement by RSME can be found here (or here for the English version).
